The Galveston ISD Educational Foundation, Inc. (GEF) is proud to publish their 2014-15 Impact Report. This report showcases the work of GEF to donors and the community by listing each grant that was given by the Foundation through the Grants to Teachers and Schools program.
In the fall 2014 and spring 2015 grant cycles, GEF awarded 47 grants totaling $147,507.37 toward projects in reading, technology, career technology, math, science, social studies, fine arts and more. This represented a 47% increase in the amount granted to teachers over the 2013-14 school year. Those projects will enhance the educational experience for an estimated 12,270 students of all grade levels, Pre-K through High School, over the lifetime of the grants. All of the awarded grants are expected to increase the academic performance of GISD students. Examples of some of the projects include reading intervention programs to assist a GISD campus with improving their reading scores, an upgrade of our high school’s welding equipment to assist students with earning credits toward technical certifications and Associate’s Degrees via our local community college and books for one of our Pre-K programs to promote early literacy skills.
